November’s Eyes See Only One

It’s been about a month since I lasted did the blog thing. I reckon that I need to keep this thing going pretty regular, otherwise, it’s just a waste of something. I’m not sure what it’s wasting, but Pinball Wizard by the Who just started, so here we go.

The Georgia Winery in Ft. Oglethorp has some very tasty libations at their facility. I’ve enjoyed their Niagara White wine for some time, and having been close the the winery this weekend, I was glad to be able to stop in and pick up some new vino goodness. New to my stock this winter is the Georgia On My Mind.

It’s a peach based wine. While that may sound like the kind of wine only chicks drink, it’s not. It’s delicious and very refreshing. Smooth, fruity and a bit tart, I’m loving the fact that I can enjoy it with a good cigar some time in the near future.

Speaking of cigars, The cigar shop in downtown Marietta, has been a great discovery for me. I knew that coming to the Atlanta area would yield more of the things I like, and in the area of cigars, that has proven very true. This is the first place, other than the Case Fuente store in Las Vegas, that I’ve seen a large selection of Hemingway series cigars. Happiness ensued.

Paring the Hemingway Classic with tall glass of Concord Red wine is something that I am looking forward to on the upcoming Day of Greatness know as my birthday. This will leave me only 2 mile stone cigars left to smoke: the ‘I just got a job with some decent benefits and an actual salary’ Cuban cigar, and the ‘I’m dating a really cool chick who likes cigars’ cigar from the Case Fuente Signature series.

That last one is flexible on a couple of key points, but the idea is there. Besides, as long as the humidor stays clean, and I can fend off the roaches, the cigar should last for quite sometime.

The Search continues for both of the things that can allow me to smoke the milestone cigars, so any leads that people can generate are always welcomed. I’m great at generating ideas and concepts, I think the biggest draw back thus far is that I’m just not keen to show all of the stuff I’ve done at my last position. I loved the environment, and in 10 years of so, they have the potential to be a very solid content generating group if things can get strait around the whole house. It’s that lack of direction and creative freedom that has made me hesitant to show off all of my work from there.

Freelancing has been a really great thing for me since I came down to ATL as it has given me the chance to work on some new things, but also the chance to step out and do work that I like and that I’m happy to show off. If I like freelance work more, I’d be very inclined to stay in this area and really build it up nicely. I just HATE having to do accounting and billing work. I want to talk to people about neat ideas, and color, and cool ways of using products and technology. I don’t want to deal with accounts receivable. Oh, and I really want insurance.

That leaves me with two options as I see it: Get a Job where I can work and get really good, or get enough freelance work so that I can hire an accountant and pay for my own insurance. Or I could marry a finance teacher, have her do the books and use her school-funded insurance. That could work too.

Either way, I’m in Atlanta, and I love it down here. I just wish more people that I knew were quitting their jobs in order to pursue their dreams of being a folk singer or brigand/programmer or, in the case of Nathan, autistic savant.

Be free my friends.
